HD 33564 and Its Planet

HD 33564 is a star 68.3 light-years from Earth with one known planet in orbit. Its spectral type is F7 V, placing it among the hotter, whiter main-sequence stars. The star is 2.2 billion years old and has a mass of 1.31 solar masses, a radius of 1.44 solar radii, and a temperature of 6420 K. Its mass and radius are both larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter.

The planet HD 33564 b was discovered in 2005 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The planet has a minimum mass of 2890 Earth masses, roughly 9.1 times Jupiter's mass, and is therefore more massive than Earth at minimum. It completes one orbit every 388 days.
