HD 33283 and Its Planet

HD 33283 is a star 293 light-years away with a spectral type of G3/G5 V, a Sun-like G-type dwarf. The star's reported mass estimate is 1.29 solar masses, larger than the Sun's, and its radius estimate is 1.7 solar radii, also larger than the Sun's. Its reported temperature of 6020 K is hotter than the Sun's, and it is 3.23 billion years old. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, HD 33283 b, was discovered in 2006 by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HD 33283 b has a minimum mass of 105 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass and larger than Earth's. It completes one orbit every 18.2 days.
