HD 29021 and Its Giant Planet

HD 29021 is a G5 star 101 light-years away, with an age of 7.4 billion years. Its reported mass and radius estimates are each 0.85 solar masses and 0.85 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature of 5560 K is cooler than the Sun's.

One planet orbits this host. HD 29021 b was discovered in 2017 by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. The planet's mass estimate is 1420 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 4.47 times Jupiter's mass. It completes one orbit every 1370 days.
