HD 142: A Nearby Star with Three Known Planets

HD 142 is an F7V star located 85.4 light-years from Earth. It is 3.12 billion years old and has a reported mass of 1.23 solar masses, larger than the Sun's. Its reported radius of 1.4 solar radii is also larger than the Sun's, and its temperature of 6250 K is hotter than the Sun's. Three planets are known to orbit this host.

HD 142 A d was discovered by radial velocity in 2022. Its minimum mass is 82.6 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass, and its orbital period is 108 days.

HD 142 b was also found by radial velocity, in 2001. It has a minimum mass of 397 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 1.25 times Jupiter's mass. Its orbital period is 351 days.

HD 142 c, discovered by radial velocity in 2012, has a reported mass of 3460 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 10.9 times Jupiter's mass. Its orbital period is 10200 days, the longest among the listed planets, while HD 142 A d has the shortest at 108 days and HD 142 b the second-shortest at 351 days.
