HD 13908 and Its Two Worlds

HD 13908 is a star located 259 light-years away, with two planets known to orbit it. The host is an F8 V star, a spectral class indicating a main-sequence dwarf somewhat hotter than the Sun. Its measured temperature is 6260 K, and it is estimated to be 2.9 billion years old. The star's reported mass is 1.29 solar masses, its reported radius is 1.67 solar radii, and both its mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's. Its reported temperature is also hotter than the Sun's.

Both planets were discovered in 2013 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. HD 13908 b has a minimum mass of 275 Earth masses and an orbital period of 19.4 days. A minimum mass is a lower bound on a planet's true mass, so the actual mass could be higher. Among the listed planets, HD 13908 b has the shortest year by reported estimates and the smallest minimum mass.

HD 13908 c has a minimum mass of 1630 Earth masses and an orbital period of 931 days. Its minimum mass is larger than Earth's and is roughly 5.13 times Jupiter's mass. Among the listed planets, HD 13908 c has the longest year by reported estimates and the largest minimum mass.
