HD 133131 B and Its Lone Known Planet

HD 133131 B is a G2 V star 167 light-years from us. That spectral type marks a Sun-like main-sequence dwarf, a star with a temperature of 5810 K, a mass of 0.93 solar masses, and an age of 9.7 billion years. Its reported mass is smaller than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is hotter. One known planet orbits this host.

The planet is HD 133131 B b, found in 2016 by the radial velocity method, which tracks the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. It has a minimum mass of 795 Earth masses and an orbital period of 5770 days. That minimum mass is larger than Earth's and roughly 2.5 times Jupiter's mass.
