HD 127195: A Distant Star With Two Massive Planets

HD 127195 is a single star located 276 light-years from Earth. It is 2.3 billion years old and has a reported mass of 1.34 solar masses, a reported radius of 4.16 solar radii, and a temperature of 4980 K. Compared with the Sun, the star's reported mass and radius estimates are larger, while its reported temperature is cooler.

Two planets orbit this host. Both were discovered in 2026 using the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion; repeated wobbles reveal the planet and its orbital period. HD 127195 b has a minimum mass of 213 Earth masses - a lower bound on its true mass - and an orbital period of 535 days. HD 127195 c has a minimum mass of 207 Earth masses and an orbital period of 837 days.

Both planets' minimum masses are larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, HD 127195 b has the shortest year by reported estimates, at 535 days, and the largest minimum mass, while HD 127195 c has the longest year by reported estimates, at 837 days, and the smallest minimum mass.
