Two Planets Around HD 12661

HD 12661 is a K0 star located 123 light-years away. Its mass is 1.1 solar masses, its radius is 1.04 solar radii, and its temperature is 5790 K. Its age is a reported upper limit of 1 billion years. Two planets are known to orbit this star, both found by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion.

HD 12661 b was discovered in 2000. Its minimum mass is 772 Earth masses, and its orbital period is 263 days.

HD 12661 c was discovered in 2002. Its minimum mass is 576 Earth masses, and its orbital period is 1710 days.

Both planets' minimum masses are lower bounds on their true masses. HD 12661 b's minimum mass is larger than Earth's and roughly 2.43 times Jupiter's mass, while HD 12661 c's minimum mass is larger than Earth's and roughly 1.81 times Jupiter's mass. Among the listed planets, HD 12661 b has the largest minimum mass and the shortest year by reported estimates, at 263 days. HD 12661 c has the smallest minimum mass and the longest year by reported estimates, at 1710 days. HD 12661 b's minimum mass is larger than Earth's.
