HATS-9 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

HATS-9 is a star located 2080 light-years away. It hosts one known planet, HATS-9 b. The star is estimated to be 10.8 billion years old, with a mass of 1.03 solar masses and a radius of 1.5 solar radii. Its temperature is 5370 K, which is cooler than the Sun's, and its radius is larger than the Sun's.

HATS-9 b was discovered in 2015 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet is classified as Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 13.9 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 1.92 days.
