GJ 720 A and Its Planet

GJ 720 A is an M-type dwarf, a small, cool red star, located 50.7 light-years away. Its spectral type is M0.5 V, and it has a reported mass of 0.57 solar masses, a radius of 0.56 solar radii, and a temperature of 3840 K. Each of these stellar measurements is smaller or cooler than the corresponding value for the Sun.

One planet orbits this host. GJ 720 A b was discovered in 2021 by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. Its minimum mass is 13.6 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass and larger than Earth's. The planet completes one orbit every 19.5 days.
