GJ 2056 is an M-type dwarf star located 92.8 light-years from Earth, with a spectral type of M0V. Its mass is 0.62 solar masses, its radius is 0.75 solar radii, and its temperature is 4000 K. All three stellar measurements are smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding values. One known planet orbits this star.
That planet is GJ 2056 b, discovered in 2020 by the radial velocity method, which detects the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The planet's minimum mass is 16.2 Earth masses, a lower bound on its true mass, and that bound is larger than Earth's mass. Its orbital period is 70 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit around GJ 2056.
