CoRoT-36 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

CoRoT-36 is an F3 V star located 3020 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The host is a main-sequence dwarf with a spectral type in the F class. Its age is 2.1 billion years, and its reported mass estimate is 1.32 solar masses, larger than the Sun's. The star's reported radius estimate is 1.52 solar radii, also larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature of 6730 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The single planet, CoRoT-36 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2022. Transit observations detect a small dip in a star's brightness as a planet passes in front of it. CoRoT-36 b is classified as Jupiter-like, and its reported radius estimate of 15.8 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. It orbits with a period of 5.62 days. Its mass is reported as an upper limit of 216.12331676 Earth masses, a bound rather than an exact value.
