CoRoT-21 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

CoRoT-21 is an F8 IV star, a class of star hotter than the Sun. Its mass is 1.29 solar masses, its radius is 1.95 solar radii, its temperature is 6200 K, and its age is 4.1 billion years. The star's reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, CoRoT-21 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2012. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. CoRoT-21 b has a mass of 718 Earth masses and a radius of 14.6 Earth radii, both larger than Earth's corresponding values. The planet's mass is roughly 2.26 times Jupiter's mass. Its orbital period is 2.72 days. The planet's mean density is 1.28 g/cm³, 0.232 times Earth's.
