BD-14 3065 A and Its Giant Planet

BD-14 3065 A is a star 1920 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 2.24 billion years old, has a mass of 1.41 solar masses and a radius of 2.35 solar radii, and has a temperature of 6940 K. Its mass and radius are larger than the Sun's, and it is hotter than the Sun.

The planet BD-14 3065 b was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. It has a mass of 3930 Earth masses, roughly 12.4 times Jupiter's mass, and a radius of 21.6 Earth radii. Both its mass and radius are larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 2.15 g/cm³, 0.391 times Earth's. It completes an orbit every 4.29 days. With a radius more than four times Earth's, it is classified as Jupiter-like.
