AF Lep: A Star With a Giant Planet

AF Lep is a star 87.6 light-years from Earth, and the one planet orbiting it is AF Lep b. The host is an F7/8V star, a spectral type that places it among the hotter, whiter stars on the main sequence, and its age is 0.4 billion years. Its mass is 1.27 solar masses and its radius is 1.22 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values, while its temperature of 6500 K is hotter than the Sun's.

AF Lep b was found by imaging in 2023. Its mass is 1150 Earth masses, roughly 3.61 times Jupiter's mass, making it far more massive than Earth. It completes one orbit in 8910 days.
