Wendelstein-1 is a K7 V star, a main-sequence dwarf cooler and redder than the Sun. It lies 996 light-years away. Its mass is 0.634 solar masses and its radius is 0.701 solar radii; its temperature is 4050 K. One planet orbits this star.
That planet, Wendelstein-1 b, is Jupiter-like, with a radius of 11.6 Earth radii. Its mass is 188 Earth masses. It completes an orbit every 2.66 days. It was discovered in 2020 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. The star's mass, radius, and temperature are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's, and the planet's mass and radius are both larger than Earth's.
