WASP-98 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

WASP-98 is a G7 star located 919 light-years away. It is a two-star system, but the measurements below describe the host star alone. That star has a reported lower limit of 8 billion years, a mass of 0.69 solar masses, a radius of 0.7 solar radii, and a temperature of 5530 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

WASP-98 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by transit in 2014. It completes an orbit every 2.96 days, has a radius of 12.8 Earth radii, and has a mass of 293 Earth masses. Its radius and mass are larger than Earth's. The planet's mean density is 0.766 g/cm³, 0.139 times Earth's.
