WASP-88 b: A Jupiter-like Planet Orbiting an F6 Star

WASP-88 is a single star located 1710 light-years away, with a spectral type of F6. Its mass is 1.45 solar masses, its radius is 2.08 solar radii, and its temperature is 6430 K. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, WASP-88 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its mass is 133 Earth masses, its radius is 16.4 Earth radii, and its orbital period is 4.95 days.

The star's mass and radius are larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's. WASP-88 b's mass and radius are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 0.168 g/cm³, 0.0305 times Earth's.
