WASP-35 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

WASP-35 is a star 660 light-years away with a mass of 1.14 solar masses and a radius of 1.1 solar radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature of 6070 K is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is WASP-35 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2011. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. WASP-35 b has a mass of 226 Earth masses, a radius of 14.6 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 3.16 days. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and its reported mass estimate is larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.402 g/cm³, 0.0729 times Earth's.
