TrES-2 is a star 702 light-years away in a two-star system, and one planet is known to orbit it. The host is a G0 V star, a Sun-like main-sequence dwarf with a mass of 0.99 solar masses and a radius of 0.952 solar radii, making its reported radius estimate smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature of 5850 K is hotter than the Sun's, and it is 3.1 billion years old.
The planet TrES-2 b is a Jupiter-like world, a size class that describes a radius exceeding four times Earth's. It was discovered by the transit method in 2006, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 15.2 Earth radii, and its mass is 474 Earth masses, roughly 1.49 times Jupiter's mass. Both its reported radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.737 g/cm³, 0.134 times Earth's. TrES-2 b completes an orbit in 2.47 days.
