TrES-1 and Its Jupiter-like Planet

TrES-1 is a K0 V star located 521 light-years away. It is host to a single known planet. The star's reported mass is 0.878 solar masses, its radius is 0.807 solar radii, and its temperature is 5230 K. Its age is 3.7 billion years.

The one known planet is TrES-1 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2004 by the transit method. It has a mass of 267 Earth masses and a radius of 12.7 Earth radii, and it orbits its star in 3.03 days. Its mean density is 0.724 g/cm³, 0.131 times Earth's. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness.
