TOI-815 and Its Two Neptune-Like Planets

TOI-815 is a K3 V star located 195 light-years away. This main-sequence dwarf has a mass of 0.776 solar masses, a radius of 0.77 solar radii, and a temperature of 4870 K. Its reported mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. Its age is 0.2 billion years. Two planets are known to orbit this host.

Both planets are Neptune-like and were discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-815 b has a mass of 7.6 Earth masses, a radius of 2.94 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 11.2 days. TOI-815 c has a mass of 23.5 Earth masses, a radius of 2.62 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 35 days. Both planets are larger and more massive than Earth. Among the listed planets, TOI-815 b has the shortest year and the largest radius, while TOI-815 c has the longest year, the smallest radius, and the largest reported mass.

TOI-815 b has a mean density of 1.65 g/cm³, 0.299 times Earth's. TOI-815 c has a mean density of 7.2 g/cm³, 1.31 times Earth's.
