TOI-6029 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-6029 is a star 1970 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 2.31 billion years old and has a mass of 1.55 solar masses and a radius of 2.34 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's. Its temperature of 6220 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-6029 b was discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-6029 b completes an orbit every 5.8 days. It is Jupiter-like, meaning its radius exceeds 4 times Earth's radius, and its radius is 14.4 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 520 Earth masses, larger than Earth's and roughly 1.64 times Jupiter's mass, and its mean density is 0.96 g/cm³, 0.174 times Earth's.
