TOI-5916 b: A Jupiter-like World Around a Small Red Dwarf

TOI-5916 is an M2±0.5 star located 651 light-years away. The star has a mass of 0.477 solar masses, a radius of 0.48 solar radii, a temperature of 3610 K, and an age of 5 billion years. Its mass, radius, and temperature estimates are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's.

One planet orbits this host. TOI-5916 b is a Jupiter-like planet discovered by the transit method in 2026. The transit method detects a planet when it passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. The planet has a mass of 219 Earth masses, a radius of 11.8 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 2.37 days. Both its radius and its mass estimates are larger than Earth's. TOI-5916 b's mean density is 0.734 g/cm³, 0.133 times Earth's.
