TOI-5616 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-5616 is a star 1270 light-years away with a mass of 0.666 solar masses and a radius of 0.646 solar radii. Its reported mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature of 4000 K is cooler than the Sun's. The star is 7.2 billion years old. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-5616 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-5616 b has a reported radius of 10.8 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and a reported upper limit of 624 Earth masses. Its orbital period is 2 days, the time it takes to complete one orbit.
