TOI-5502 b: A Jupiter-like World in Transit

TOI-5502 is a star 811 light-years away with a mass of 1.24 solar masses, a radius of 1.32 solar radii, and a temperature of 6320 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

One planet orbits this host. TOI-5502 b was discovered by transit in 2026, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. The planet is Jupiter-like, a size class for objects exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius of 4.13 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. The planet completes an orbit in 11.6 days.
