TOI-5486 b: A Close-In Neptune-Like World

TOI-5486 is a single star located 293 light-years away, and the system hosts exactly one known planet. The star's mass is 0.548 solar masses, meaning it is smaller than the Sun, while its radius is 0.553 solar radii, also smaller than the Sun. Its temperature is 3650 K, making it cooler than the Sun.

The sole planet, TOI-5486 b, is a Neptune-like world discovered by the transit method in 2026. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-5486 b orbits its host every 2.02 days, an extremely short year. Its radius is 3.97 Earth radii, larger than Earth's and within the range of its size class, which compares radius rather than composition. The star's reported mass, radius, and temperature are all estimates below the Sun's corresponding values.
