TOI-5388 and Its Sub-Earth Planet

TOI-5388 is an M3.0 V star, a small, cool red dwarf, located 60.4 light-years away. Its reported mass is 0.292 solar masses, its radius is 0.3 solar radii, and its temperature is 3440 K. These figures make the star less massive, smaller, and cooler than the Sun. One known planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-5388.01, a Sub-Earth discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star dims the star's light slightly. With a radius of 0.99 Earth radii, it is smaller than Earth, as its size class indicates. Its mass is reported as an upper limit of 2.2 Earth masses. The planet completes an orbit every 2.59 days, making its year a brief one.
