TOI-5340 b: A Jupiter-like Planet Around a Distant Star

TOI-5340 is a star 1740 light-years away with an age of 3.5 billion years. Its mass is 1.35 solar masses, its radius is 1.84 solar radii, and its temperature is 5990 K. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet is TOI-5340 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2025. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-5340 b has an orbital period of 4.94 days. Its radius is 15.1 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 270 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.434 g/cm³, 0.0788 times Earth's.
