TOI-5292 A b: A Close-Orbiting Giant Around a Cool Dwarf

TOI-5292 A is an M0±0.5 star located 1100 light-years away, with a mass of 0.596 solar masses, a radius of 0.611 solar radii, and a temperature of 3920 K. Its spectral class places it among the small, cool red dwarfs. The star is estimated to be 5 billion years old. One known planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-5292 A b, was discovered by transit in 2026. The transit method detects the slight dimming caused when a planet crosses in front of its star, and repeated dips establish the planet's orbital period. TOI-5292 A b completes an orbit in 2.02 days. Its radius of 12.6 Earth radii is larger than Earth's and exceeds four times Earth's radius, placing it in the Jupiter-like size class, whose members are defined by radius rather than composition. Its mass of 413 Earth masses is larger than Earth's and roughly 1.3 times Jupiter's mass.

For comparison, the host star's reported mass and radius estimates are each smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. The planet's mean density is 1.13 g/cm³, 0.204 times Earth's.

The orbital period of TOI-5292 A b is 2.02 days.
