TOI-4794: A Distant Star With a Single Known Planet

TOI-4794 is a star 1770 light-years away with a mass of 1.25 solar masses, a radius of 1.45 solar radii, and a temperature of 6390 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. The star is 2.7 billion years old. One planet has been found orbiting this host.

That planet, TOI-4794 b, was discovered in 2025 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class for worlds exceeding 4 times Earth's radius, and its radius of 14.4 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. Its mass is 308 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 3.57 days, and its mean density is 0.574 g/cm³, 0.104 times Earth's.
