TOI-4640 and Its Neptune-like Planet

TOI-4640 is a star 799 light-years away with a mass of 1.1 solar masses, a radius of 1.07 solar radii, and a temperature of 5980 K. Its radius is larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-4640 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2026 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-4640 b completes an orbit every 2.69 days and has a radius of 2.84 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
