TOI-4603 b: A Giant Planet Around an F-Type Star

TOI-4603 is an F-type star 736 light-years away with a single known planet. The star is 1.64 billion years old, with a mass of 1.77 solar masses and a radius of 2.74 solar radii. Its temperature is 6260 K, making it larger, more massive, and hotter than the Sun.

The planet TOI-4603 b was discovered by the transit method in 2023, which detects the small dip in brightness when a planet crosses in front of its star. It is a Jupiter-like planet, with a radius of 11.7 Earth radii, well above the threshold for that class. Its minimum mass is 4100 Earth masses, which is roughly 12.9 times Jupiter's mass. The planet completes one orbit every 7.25 days.

TOI-4603 b's mean density is 14.2 g/cm³, 2.57 times Earth's - an unusually high value for a planet of its size. Its radius is larger than Earth's, and its mass is larger than Earth's as well.
