TOI-3856 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-3856 is a star 1030 light-years away with an age of 2.6 billion years. Its reported mass estimate is 1.1 solar masses, its radius 1.06 solar radii, and its temperature 5620 K. The star's mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-3856 b, is Jupiter-like in size classification, meaning its radius exceeds 4 times Earth's. It was discovered by transit in 2025, when the planet passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 13.6 Earth radii and its mass 172 Earth masses, both larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit every 2.04 days. Its mean density is 0.376 g/cm³, 0.0683 times Earth's.
