TOI-3693 b: A Jupiter-like Planet in a Close Orbit

TOI-3693 is a star 575 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 3 billion years old and has a mass of 0.867 solar masses, a radius of 0.791 solar radii, and a temperature of 5320 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet TOI-3693 b was discovered in 2022 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is Jupiter-like, a size class for planets whose radius exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. TOI-3693 b has a radius of 12.6 Earth radii and a mass of 324 Earth masses. Its reported radius and mass estimates are larger than Earth's. The planet orbits every 9.09 days - its year - and its mean density is 0.893 g/cm³, 0.162 times Earth's.
