TOI-3493 b: A Neptune-like World Around a Sun-like Star

TOI-3493 is a G1/2 V star located 315 light-years away. This Sun-like dwarf has a mass of 1.02 solar masses, a radius of 1.23 solar radii, a temperature of 5840 K, and an age of 7.3 billion years. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-3493 b, is a Neptune-like world discovered in 2025 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 8.16 days. Its radius is 3.22 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 8.97 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 1.48 g/cm³, which is 0.269 times Earth's.
