TOI-2989 b: A Jupiter-Like World Around a Cool Dwarf Star

TOI-2989 is a K4 V star, a cooler, less massive class of main-sequence dwarf than the Sun. Its mass is 0.77 solar masses, its radius is 0.76 solar radii, and its temperature is 4670 K. The star lies 639 light-years away.

One planet orbits this star. TOI-2989 b is a Jupiter-like planet, discovered by the transit method in 2025, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It has a mass of 953 Earth masses - roughly 3 times Jupiter's mass - and a radius of 12.6 Earth radii.

TOI-2989 b completes an orbit in 3.12 days. Its mean density is 2.66 g/cm³, 0.482 times Earth's.
