TOI-2485 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2485 is a star 1300 light-years away with a mass of 1.11 solar masses, a radius of 1.72 solar radii, and a temperature of 6020 K. Its reported radius is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this star.

That planet, TOI-2485 b, was discovered by transit in 2024. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-2485 b has an orbital period of 11.2 days, a mass of 767 Earth masses, and a radius of 12.1 Earth radii. Its reported radius is larger than Earth's, and its reported mass is larger than Earth's and roughly 2.41 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 2.36 g/cm³, 0.429 times Earth's.

As a size class, a Jupiter-like planet exceeds 4 times Earth's radius.
