TOI-2421 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2421 is a star 1070 light-years away with an age of 7.5 billion years, a mass of 1.13 solar masses, a radius of 1.75 solar radii, and a temperature of 5610 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, while its reported temperature is cooler. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-2421 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2022. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-2421 b completes an orbit every 4.35 days, has a mass of 106 Earth masses, and has a radius of 10.4 Earth radii. Both its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 0.523 g/cm³, 0.095 times Earth's.
