TOI-2236 b: A Jupiter-like World Around a Hotter, Heavier Star

TOI-2236 is a star 1160 light-years away with one known planet. The star is 1.34 solar masses and 1.57 solar radii, both larger than the Sun's corresponding values, and its temperature of 6250 K is hotter than the Sun's. It is 2.52 billion years old.

The planet TOI-2236 b was discovered by transit in 2022. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-2236 b is a Jupiter-like planet, a size class for worlds exceeding 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius of 14.4 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. Its mass of 502 Earth masses is larger than Earth's and roughly 1.58 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 0.932 g/cm³, 0.169 times Earth's. TOI-2236 b orbits every 3.53 days.
