TOI-2227: A Nearby Star With One Known Planet

TOI-2227 is a star 540 light-years from Earth. It has 1.03 solar masses, 1.21 solar radii, and a temperature of 5760 K. Its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is TOI-2227 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by transit in 2026. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-2227 b orbits every 4.22 days and has a radius of 3.1 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. As a planet class, Neptune-like describes a radius reaching four times Earth's.

The orbital period is the time a planet takes to complete one orbit. That, along with the star's mass, radius, and temperature, and the planet's radius, is the measured picture.
