TOI-205 b: A Neptune-Like World Orbiting a Single Star

TOI-205 is a star 580 light-years away with a mass of 1.2 solar masses, a radius of 1.45 solar radii, and a temperature of 6220 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-205 b, is Neptune-like. It was discovered by transit in 2026, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods, and TOI-205 b completes one orbit every 4.25 days. Its radius is 2.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Neptune-like planets reach 4 times Earth's radius, so TOI-205 b sits within that size class.
