TOI-2048 b: A Neptune-Like World Orbiting a Sun-Like Star

TOI-2048 is a G V star 380 light-years away, a Sun-like class of star that is cooler than the Sun at 5190 K. Its mass is 0.83 solar masses and its radius is 0.79 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its age is 0.3 billion years. One known planet orbits this host.

That planet, TOI-2048 b, is a Neptune-like world discovered by the transit method in 2022. The transit method detects a planet when it passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. TOI-2048 b has a radius of 2.61 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and completes an orbit in 13.8 days.
