TOI-2005 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

TOI-2005 is a star 1070 light-years away. It is 1.6 billion years old and has 1.59 solar masses, 2.02 solar radii, and a temperature of 7130 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is TOI-2005 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2025. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-2005 b orbits every 17.3 days.

TOI-2005 b has a reported upper limit of 2034.1018048 Earth masses, a bound rather than an exact value. Its radius is 12 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. A Jupiter-like planet exceeds 4 times Earth's radius.
