TOI-1853 b: A Neptune-like Planet in a One-Day Orbit

TOI-1853 is a K2.5 V main-sequence star 538 light-years away. Its mass is 0.837 solar masses, its radius is 0.808 solar radii, and its temperature is 4990 K, all smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding values. One planet orbits this host.

TOI-1853 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered in 2023 by the transit method, in which a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius is 3.46 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and its mass is 73.2 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's. Its mean density is 9.74 g/cm³, 1.77 times Earth's. The planet completes an orbit every 1.24 days.
