TOI-1799 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Orbit

TOI-1799 is a star located 203 light-years away with an age of 5.1 billion years. Its mass is 0.941 solar masses and its radius is 0.954 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values. The star's temperature is 5700 K. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-1799 b, is classified as a Super-Earth. It was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1799 b completes an orbit every 7.09 days. Its radius is 1.64 Earth radii, larger than Earth's radius. Size classes such as Super-Earth compare radius with Earth's rather than indicating composition.
