TOI-1739: A Cool Star With One Super-Earth

TOI-1739 is a star 232 light-years away with one planet in orbit. The star is 6.3 billion years old and has a mass of 0.79 solar masses, a radius of 0.751 solar radii, and a temperature of 4920 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, TOI-1739 b, was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1739 b completes one orbit every 8.3 days. It is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius, and its radius is 1.95 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
