TOI-1669: A Star With Two Very Different Worlds

TOI-1669 is a star located 363 light-years from Earth. It has 0.987 solar masses and 1.06 solar radii, making its reported radius estimate larger than the Sun's. Its temperature of 5500 K is cooler than the Sun's, and its age is 7.7 billion years. Two planets are known to orbit this host.

TOI-1669 b was discovered in 2023 through radial velocity, a method that measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star's motion. The planet's minimum mass is 191 Earth masses, which is larger than Earth's, and its orbital period is 500 days. TOI-1669 c was discovered in 2024 through transit, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Super-Earth with a reported radius of 2.3 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 2.68 days. Its mass is a reported upper limit of 13 Earth masses. Among the listed planets, TOI-1669 c has the shortest year by reported estimates at 2.68 days, while TOI-1669 b has the longest at 500 days.
