TOI-159 b: A Giant Planet Around a Hot Star

TOI-159 is a star 1130 light-years away with a spectral type of F0 V, meaning it is a main-sequence dwarf hotter than the Sun. The star has an age of 0.145 billion years, a mass of 1.66 solar masses, a radius of 1.62 solar radii, and a temperature of 7290 K. Its mass and radius are larger than the Sun's, and its temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, TOI-159 b, is a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2026, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It has an orbital period of 3.76 days and a radius of 18.2 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass is 1110 Earth masses, also larger than Earth's and roughly 3.49 times Jupiter's mass. Its mean density is 1.02 g/cm³, 0.185 times Earth's.
