TOI-1448 and Its Neptune-like Planet

TOI-1448 is a star 239 light-years from Earth with a reported mass estimate of 0.372 solar masses, a radius estimate of 0.38 solar radii, and a temperature of 3410 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, as are its radius estimate and its temperature. One known planet orbits this star.

That planet, TOI-1448 b, was discovered in 2024 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. TOI-1448 b is Neptune-like, a size class for planets whose radius reaches 4 times Earth's. Its reported radius estimate is 2.75 Earth radii, larger than Earth's radius, and its mass is a reported upper limit of 19.5 Earth masses. It completes one orbit in 8.11 days.
